More Services

At Northern Spinal & Sports Injury Clinic we offer plenty of additional services that help maintain fitness and wellbeing. Administered by our team of experts, these services can be used in harmony with your Osteopathy, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic or Podiatry treatments, or be utilised independently for their healing benefits.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling

Trigger point dry needling is a treatment technique, which uses small filament type needles to release tight muscles with the goal of permanently reducing muscle pain and dysfunction.

Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy

Northern Spinal & Sports Injury Clinic uses electrotherapy modalities to benefit patients. This type of therapy introduces energy into the patient’s body, causing change and curing musculoskeletal conditions or ailments.

Northern Spinal shockwave therapy

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy, also known as ESWT, or Radial Shockwave Therapy, provides treatment to patients suffering from a range of chronic conditions often treated by podiatrists, including plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinopathy.

Shockwave Therapy works by using high pressured acoustic shockwaves that travel through the skin to stimulate pain relief and tissue repair.

Hyperbaric Medicine

During Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy patients breathe 100% oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber, in which the atmospheric pressure is increased up to three times.

The increased oxygen levels in the tissues stimulate healing processes including the growth of new blood vessels, the migration of white blood cells to fight infection and the boost of fibroblasts, which manufacture new tissue.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage

Massage is used to help treat a wide range of injuries. By applying pressure to superficial and deeper soft tissue layers, movement and functionality can be either improved or restored.

Remedial massage differs from general massage as it aims to address a specific complaint. It works by manipulating soft tissue in a way deemed suitable for your specific ailment – whether that be gentle or firm.

Real Time Ultrasound Imaging

Northern Spinal & Sports Injury Clinic offers real time ultrasound assessment of the stabilising muscles of the lumbar spine. Through ultrasound a visual feedback is used to assess and retrain the stabilising muscles of the lower back. This is helpful when addressing pelvic floor muscle dysfunction before and after pregnancy. Real time ultrasound imaging allows the Osteopath to effectively retrain the pelvic floor without the need for an internal exam.

No medical referral is required for an Osteopath to assess and treat your pelvic floor or stabilising muscles of the lumbar spine with real time ultrasound.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is achieved through the use of a mechanical traction device applied through an on-board computer that controls the force and angle of disc distraction, which reduces the body’s natural propensity to resist external force and/or generate muscle spasm.

This enhanced control allows non-surgical spinal decompression tables to apply a traction force to the discs of the spinal column reducing intradiscal pressure.

Exercise Physiology

An Exercise Physiologist is an Allied Health professional who specialises in the benefits of exercise to help patients get fitter for all around good health, or to treat patients with a medical condition through exercise. They are much more than an ordinary personal trainer at the gym. Exercise Physiologists study at university and have a wide range of knowledge about the human body and the benefit that exercise has on it, both mentally and physically.

Exercise Physiologists are knowledgeable about the effects that exercise has on the musculoskeletal system, as well as on the cardiovascular and endocrine systems. They can prescribe a course of exercises for either fitness or rehabilitation.
